Water Safety

As the weather heats up, the whole family will most likely be heading to the pool or the beach. Swimming is a great way to cool off, have fun and get some exercise. As summer approaches however, it is important that your kids know some basic rules, which will help them stay safe in the water and give you peace of mind. It's also important for parents, grand-parents, older siblings, babysitters, etc., also to know that kids need constant supervision around water. You can read more about this any many other health and safety topics on the Kids Health website at

May is National Water Safety Month and a joint effort of the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP), the American Red Cross, the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) and the World Waterpark Association (WWA). Even so, it's always a good time to think about pool safety, especially when there are children around.

Please visit the National Water Safety Month website at to get great information such as Safety Tips, Swimming Rules, Kid's Safety, ideas on how to get your kids involved in water safety and how to organize a Water Safety Fair. Also included are current Press Releases concerning important water safety issues and fun, informative Safe Swimming videos to watch.
